Recently awarded Best Major Festival by UK Festival Awards, Latitude Festival returns with an all-new look for 2018. For the first time, Latitude is pleased to announce a range of food headliners. Food has become the new rock ‘n roll and Latitude bosses believe that what you eat should be as good as what you see and hear at the festival.

Melvin Benn of Festival Republic says:

“I am incredibly pleased to welcome Street Feast to this year’s Latitude, adding to the already impressive line up. Food has become a vital part of the festival experience, and being the first major festival to offer some of Street Feast’s most exciting vendors is a true milestone. Plus with Theatre Of Food’s debut and The Kitchen Cabinet recording a special episode, Latitude is the perfect festival for those who have an appetite for both talent and food.”

New to Latitude is the Theatre of Food, a fully immersive essential for any foodie – or just your average keen eater – with wild cooking sessions, hilarious and inspiring food demos and, of course, the chance to sample the goods yourself. Theatre of Food presents a mind-expanding, mind-altering concept of what food is all about. It’s all about fun, fantastic food and dramatic drinks. Theatre of Food will mix it up with chefs, cookery, writers, musicians, mixologists, bakers and much, much more. It’s where artists will meet artisans for the ultimate bake off! And if there’s a comedy set or a drum solo while it’s all happening, all the better to heighten your taste senses!

BBC Radio 4’s The Kitchen Cabinet will be recording a special episode on the Thursday night, presented by the restaurant critic and Masterchef judge Jay Rayner. The culinary panel show is packed full of tasty titbits that might change the way you think about food, cooking, and eating, and will encourage Latitude audiences to get involved and ask the expert panel their questions.

Latitude will also become the first major festival to do away with ‘fast food’ with the festival now catered by street food organised by London’s Street Feast. Street Feast is renowned for transforming disused spaces into unique eating and drinking environments complete with some of the best street food in the capital and is planning something very exciting for Latitude. Across the site festival-goers can re-fuel, wind down and eat the world without leaving Henham Park. Street Feast has brought together the UK’s finest purveyors of street food for Latitude 2018.

Jonathan Downey of Street Feast says:

“This summer, we are very pleased to be bringing over 80 of the greatest street food traders (from London, Suffolk and around the country) to Latitude. We’ve made it our mission to create the freshest ever festival food line-up and our trader game is STRONG. Eat delicious and well-sourced food from dozens of different countries and cuisines – from pillowy soft Chinese bao buns to fiery Caribbean jerk chicken, and fresh Middle Eastern mezze boxes to mighty Mexican jackfruit tacos.”

Hungry for something special? Look out for Fundi’s mighty hand-built ovens for melty, wood-fired pizzas, then dig into crispy cornbread Arepas from Venezuelan street food heroes Petare – don’t forget to order a side of their Cassava Chips topped with fiery salsa.

Say hello to meat maestro’s, Up In My Grill, who serve meat from traditional British rare breeds that’s been matured slowly on a grass-fed diet, grilled over charcoal and English wood and paired with homemade chimichurri and oregano fries. For more meat feasts, head to Salt Shed for their signature cured Salt Beef Short Rib that’s flame grilled in honey mustard barbeque sauce and topped in chilli churri, or try one of Black Bear Burger’s MIGHTY, meaty burgers. Order the Black Bear – an aged-beef patty, American cheese, onion jam, pancetta bacon and garlic mayo, or upgrade to a mountain of melty brisket.

Swing by Chuck Burger for proper American patties, made from 28-day aged chuck steak and served in a gluten free potato bun. Barbecue Legends HotBox also come to Latitude with their renowned sticky, slow-cooked brisket with fiery Korean sauce, scotch bonnet-glazed ribs and sweet potato fries.

Northfield Farm will provide bacon and sausage rolls made with rare breed pork and beef, served in fresh, local buns for those breakfast cravings, and Growlers are on hand for Portuguese prego – tender bavette steak cooked in butter and garlic, smothered in fresh mayo, Dijon mustard, and seasonal pickles, all stuffed inside a crusty bread roll.

For fiery Caribbean feasting, meet Mama’s Jerk, whose secret jerk marinade has been passed down through generations. Try the barbecue jerk chicken in a handmade roti wrap or go veggie with the jerk bean cake and a side of crispy fried plantain. Winners of the 2016 British Street Food Awards, Baked In Brick will offer smoky barbecued meat and delicious wood-fired pizzas, all cooked on the bonnet of a 1964 Mini Cooper, and Luardos will bring a modern Mexican menu of burritos, tacos and quesadillas including the epic Chipotle Brisket Burrito.

London’s original Mac dealers Anna Mae’s are coming to Latitude with their steaming hot bowls of classic mac ‘n’ cheese loaded with crispy toppings and sauces, plus Yum Bun are on site to provide pillowy bao buns with delicious fillings. For a mighty, meat-free meal, look out for Dosa Deli for fantastic Indian-inspired pancakes with vibrant veggie fillings, as well as Club Mexicana whose vegan To-Fish Tacos and BBQ-Pulled Jackfruit Burritos are NOT to be missed.

Head to the Med without leaving Suffolk with Greek grub from Kalimera, or try a taste of Italy with Baz & Fred’s stone-baked pizzas. For a fresh and healthy festival feast, say hello to Laffa, whose colourful menu is inspired by the sunny shores of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Don’t forget your sweet tooth as Lickalix will be on hand with their natural ice lollies packed with fresh organic fruit, plus deep-fried treats with Belgian chocolate dipping sauce provided by London’s own Love Churros.
