Nestled within the captivating landscapes of Cornwall lies Gwel An Mor, a coastal resort like no other. Offering a gateway to the breathtaking beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture of this unique county, Gwel An Mor beckons travelers seeking an extraordinary holiday experience. We were lucky enough to be invited to take a dog-friendly weekend break to Gwel An Mor recently and had the most wonderful stay.

Dog-friendly Lakeside Studio Accommodation in Cornwall

We enjoyed one of the beautiful, bijoux Lakeside Studio lodges and it was perfect for a couple and one dog. The decor was modern, clean and fresh and the layout made clever use of the available space.

Gwel an More front room sofa with table

The L-shaped sofa was perfect for relaxing during the afternoon and the pull-out table made a wonderful addition for laptop use or to sit down and enjoy a meal.

The bedroom area boasts a very spacious bed, with a comfortable mattress and soft bedding. The blinds were able to be closed at each of the windows to ensure that you could totally block out any light when it was time to get your heads down after a long day of exploring Cornwall.

The kitchen area was well-designed and included everything you needed for your stay. The addition of a dishwasher ensured that no one was stuck at the sink doing dishes on our relaxing break!

Fantastic Dog-Friendly Additons At Gwel An Mor

Every possible aspect of dog-friendly additions has been provided at Gwel An Mor. Our pup (Cookie the Welsh Collie) loved looking at the local surroundings and very much enjoyed the welcome pack including a ball, treats, and her own bed.

The location was perfect for anyone keen to explore Cornwall. Portreath Beach is easily walkable from Gwel An Mor, and is just 3 minutes down the road via car.

Portreath Beach is dog-friendly and you’ll find a lovely cafe, fish and chip shop, and public toilets all located nearby. Plenty of parking is available and we found this to be a great place for our evening walk.

The Terrace Restaurant at Gwel An Mor

If you are looking for dog-friendly dining options on site at Gwel An Mor then I can highly recommend The Terrace Restaurant. With a great selection of meals, tasty bites and cocktails, it’s the perfect place to unwind and sample some local food and drink.

We caught a glimpse of the Scandinavian lodges while over at this end of the complex and they look fantastic. I would certainly like to try staying at one next time we visit!

Get to St Ives in 25 Minutes from Gwel An Mor

Up for some more exploring? We took a trip to the beautiful town of St Ives as part of our holiday and had a wonderful day. There are some many boutique shops to explore.

Gorgeous sandy beaches can be found everywhere you look. We took the train into town (which is also dog-friendly!) and managed to avoid the search for parking.

It was a real joy to walk down from the harbour onto a lovely little beach with sparkling blue waters. Most of the fellow dog walkers are considerate enough that you can allow for off-lead runs and paddles for your pooch too! A great way to tire out your furry friend.

There are plenty of places to stop for snacks or a romantic meal along the way. We chose Cintra for some seafood and drinks as it was my birthday. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in the local area.

Back at Gwel An Mor we enjoyed relaxing in the private hot tub that comes with your lodge and listened to the sound of the water feature trickling away on the lake.

There are so many exciting things to do on site. We bought jam, cream and butter from the little farm shop and had a peek at the tennis courts and activity centres. If you are looking for the ultimate relaxing stay then there’s even a spa, swimming pool and gym available for guests to use! It truly was a magical weekend and we will be back as soon as possible, bringing friends and family along for the experience!
