Get Lippy : THE BIGGEST NAMES IN BEAUTY AND RETAIL UNITE TO SMASH WOMEN’S HEALTH TABOOS

get lippy

GET LIPPY is a month-long campaign in May partnering with beauty and retail brands across the country to encourage women and men to speak up, without embarrassment, about gynaecological wellbeing. Having more open, and anatomically accurate, conversations is believed to save lives through earlier diagnosis. Lead partners once again are Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) UK and Tesco, whose fantastic list of partner products includes Vaseline Rosy Lip Therapy limited edition Get Lippy 20g tin and EOS lip spheres in flavours including Strawberry Sorbet, Coconut Milk and Chai.

The beauty brands are donating 10% of RRP from a nominated product to raise money for vital Eve Appeal research. Sinead Bell, Women’s Category Director for Tesco, said,

“As a retailer, we know that we have an important part to play in helping to get health information out to our customers. We’re supporting this campaign to help women find out more about these cancers which affect far too many mothers, daughters, sisters and friends, and to support fundraising for vital medical research. We are really happy to be part of spreading the word for such a great cause. The Eve Appeal’s passion is infectious, and we look forward to making Get Lippy even bigger this year.”

To help raise awareness of the campaign, partner brands – full list attached – are each donating a percentage of sales from a nominated beauty, fashion or jewellery product in their range; or, like Vaseline, have created a bespoke Get Lippy item. In addition, Harvey Nichols are hosting a week-long Get Lippy pop-up inside their flagship London store where the charity will host beauty events, talks, podcast recordings and more.

Celebrity ambassadors include Emma Barnett, Hollie McNish, Caroline Hirons, Nimco Ali, The Mac Twins, Harriet Minter and others. Here’s how you can help support the campaign:

1. Buy a Get Lippy product from one of our supporting retailers or brands.
2. Blow a kiss to camera and tag five friends on social media who you challenge to #GETLIPPY and donate £5 by texting EVE LIPPY to 70577*
3. Come along to an exclusive GET LIPPY pop-up event at London’s Harvey Nichols, from 11-17 May, where beauty fans can experience masterclasses and giveaways from our prestigious cosmetic and make-up partners
4. Wear your loudest lipstick and plan fundraisers with friends and colleagues to mark GET LIPPY DAY on 17 May
5. Embrace the specific challenges in the workplace of women’s health – we’ll be holding a breakfast summit with business leaders on 30 May

Athena Lamnisos, Chief Executive of The Eve Appeal, says:

“We still have a long way to go in breaking down some of the taboos and stigma that stop people from speaking up. Women should feel comfortable to talk about their health without fear of shame or embarrassment. Anything we can do to get women educated and happy to ‘get lippy’ with their GP is a good thing. “So we’re thrilled to return for 2019, working alongside some of the giants of the UK beauty industry. Already we’ve seen tangible results from last year’s campaign. This year, we need another injection of funds to carry our work forward – so I’m urging everyone to buy one of our GET LIPPY branded products. Every product that’s sold really will make a difference.”

Jackie Doyle-Price, Health Minister and MP of Thurrock, says:

“Awareness of [the five gynaecological cancers] is very low but, together, [they] are the fourth most common cancers affecting women, with 58 women receiving a diagnosis each day… As a woman and health minister, and with a brief covering women’s health in particular, I feel strongly that women need to be able to talk openly about any changes in their bodies and have confidence to address these with a doctor. This is why I will be supporting The Eve Appeal’s Get Lippy campaign this spring.”

*Text cost £5 plus network charge. The Eve Appeal receives 95% of your donation. Please obtain the bill payer’s permission. Supporter Care 020 7605 0100.
