Foodie News: Aldi Sirloin claims top awards in World Steak Challenge

Supermarket Aldi has once again raised the steaks as the retailer has bagged not just one, but five medals in the annual World Steak Challenge including a Gold medal for its Specially Selected Wagyu Sirloin Steak – the only English steak to win a gold medal.

Steaking its claim to be providing the best quality British produce to its customers, Aldi’s Sirloin proved to be a cut above the rest, as the best English Sirloin in the competition. The Specially Selected Wagyu Sirloin Steak, which is priced at a mere £6.99, scored higher than entries from supermarket competitors Tesco, Lidl, Morrisons and Asda, as well as premium beef suppliers from across the globe. Awarded for its flavour, tenderness and succulence, this Wagyu breed is famous for its marbling, enhancing the overall flavour.

In total, Aldi secured five wins during the annual celebration of supporting world-class steak production. The awards allowed producers from across the globe to showcase their best quality products.

In addition to Aldi’s Gold medal winning Sirloin steak, the Specially Selected 100% British Beef Wagyu Ribeye Steak (£7.49) was also awarded a Silver medal, and its Specially Selected 100% British Beef Wagyu Fillet Steak (£8.49) took home Bronze.

To get a slice of the action and try these award-winning steaks for themselves, shoppers can head to store or visit the Aldi website.
