On June 11th of this chaotic year we were greeted by Sony’s long awaited next generation of consoles, and it did not disappoint! Following the release of the PS4 in 2013, PlayStation fans have been eagerly awaiting news on their next investment and I believe we have all been shocked by just how amazing the console looks and just how powerful it could be.
Appearance
First off the console appears to come in 3 different colours- Black with blue lighting, Black with red lighting and finally white with blue lighting. The design looks both practical for cooling your new system, and also incredibly futuristic, sleek and all round stunning.
The specs
Down to the nitty gritty to let you visualise how your favourite games could be displayed on this console. To make it easier to see the true potential of this console I’ve taken the time to compare the specs of the PS4 with the newly announced PS5 and the difference is outstanding!
PS4/PS5
CPU- 8 Jaguar Cores at 1.6GHz / 8 Zen 2 cores at 3.5GHz
GPU- 1.84 teraflops / 10.28 teraflops
Memory- 8 GB GDDR5 / 16 GB GDDR6
Memory Bandwidth- 176 GB per second / 448 GB per second
Internal Storage- 500 GB HDD / Custom 825 GB SSD
Optical Drive- Blu-Ray drive / 4K UHD Blu-ray drive
So what does this mean?
Well if you, much like me, don’t completely understand the specifications I’ll explain what this means.
- With the next generation having an amazing SSD, you should experience faster boot times and smoother loading screens.
- Regarding the GPU, more teraflops mean more precise graphics etc.
- More memory means faster processing.
- More internal storage allows you to have more games and apps installed at one time.
So the next generation of PlayStation promises faster loading, better graphics and more storage!
What more could you want?
Pricing
Now for the question everyone is asking, just how much is this going to cost?
Well for that we don’t have an answer, the team at Sony haven’t let slip a cost, but how bad could it be right? RIGHT?
