It’s Walk Your Dog Month – step outside and improve your pooch’s mental wellbeing

A recent study by outdoor retailers GO Outdoors and mental health charity Mind revealed nearly half of Brits (49%) have claimed to experience challenges with their mental health every week, with 61% agreeing that the outdoors is where they feel the most content and unburdened. Over half of dog owners in the UK (56%) have claimed that they find outdoor activities more enjoyable with their pet dogs.

This month also marks Walk Your Dog Month – an international event to encourage the public to get out with their dogs to improve their and their pooch’s mental wellbeing. So, if you’re aiming to get out and about more with your dog in January, keep warm and toasty with GO Outdoors’ and Mind’s limited-edition range of hats.

All hats are now available to buy exclusively at GO OutdoorsBlacksMillets, and Fishing Republic. Adult hats are £10 and there are two children’s hats available for just £8 with 100% of the profits going straight to Mind.

We have been making the most of the amazing local areas for dog walks here in Somerset this January. As part of my New Years resolution I planned to get more fresh air every day, and to take my little walking buddy ‘Cookie’ our Welsh Collie out on some adventures!

Find the best places to walk

Now all that you need to do is find the best places to walk! My favourite is to walk along the beautiful boat yard trail here in my small seaside town of Burnham-on-sea. The walk is all flat terrain and takes a long loop around some beautiful local sights.

The perfect leggings for long walks

I’ve been chatting about stylish walking picks this week and have found another great brand to showcase. For the last 30+ years, TLC has been offering feminine, ethical, inclusive and technical clothing designed to make their customers feel body-confident every day. They offer sizes up to a UK 22.

Their new drops this season are no exception and include a range of chic Mini Shorts – £34 RRP – ideal for all sporting activities, and which also double up as stylish shape wear.  This month also sees TLC launch their new Runners Reflective Thermal Leggings with Side-Pockets – £44.00 RRP.   Made from a lightweight, super stretch fabric these leggings are a runners must. They don’t restrict movement, and the buttery soft thermal brushed fabric keeps the legs warm running outdoors. The reflective panels also help keep you seen at night. The 2 side pockets to stash small belongings make this legging every runner’s dream.

TLC’s garments celebrate real women of all ages and body shapes.   Their focus is on creating and building self-confidence in all women with their range of superior active wear made with passion and integrity, that emphasizes quality, comfort, performance, sustainability and price.  All the garments are designed and ethically manufactured in TLC’s own factory by their own highly skilled craftsmen and women, to the highest levels of quality as well as working practices.
