Staycation inspo if you want to spend New Year’s Eve in a different location

New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to get together with friends and family but planning a different New Year’s’ celebration every year can be difficult – and sometimes the celebrations end up being a bit of an anti-climax. A sure-fire way to make sure your New Year plans go off with a bang is by spending them somewhere totally different. Whether you hire a campervan, book a cottage, or reserve a night in a hotel, here are some of our favourite (and different) places to stay for New Year in 2023.

Edinburgh

Switching up an English New Year for a Scottish Hogmanay is a great way to guarantee a good time. Scotland’s capital of Edinburgh is a good choice for those looking to welcome in the new year with live music, fireworks, art events and entertainment, and a bracing New Year’s Day swim in the freezing River Forth.

London

Always watched the London fireworks on TV but never got a chance to see them in real life? Why not head to the big smoke this year to fully take in this legendary 10-minute show? If you do find yourself able to get out of bed the next morning, don’t miss the spectacular New Year’s Day parade with over 10,000 performers from all over the world.

St. Ives

Swap the city for the seaside by heading to the small Cornish town of St Ives to welcome in the new year. Find out for yourself just why thousands of people – traditionally in all forms of crazy fancy dress – choose to flood this small town every year and then take the party out onto the beach.

Mountain Ash, Wales

For the ultimate New Year mix-up, don’t miss the festivities over in Mountain Ash. Every year this small Welsh town hosts the iconic 5K Nos Galan road race before gearing up after the race finishes at 9 PM for a night of unforgettable partying with family and friends. You can also explore the nearby beautiful Pembrokeshire afterwards, as well.

The Lake District

Celebrate the start of 2023 alongside nature by heading to The Lake District. Welcome in the new year peacefully by taking in the stunning natural scenery or join other travellers near the lake to witness one of the many glorious fireworks shows on the big night. There are plenty of campervan sites around The Lake District if you decide to pack up and drive there. Just remember to take out reasonable campervan insurance and pack some warm clothes.

Isle of Skye

Another fantastic option for nature lovers this New Year is the Isle of Skye. You can make this year’s celebration one to truly remember by stargazing under the sky and watching the amazing fireworks on the 31st, then spotting golden eagles and otters in the Inner Hebrides on the 1st.
