Marvel’s Daredevil Hits Netflix

Marvel’s Daredevil news – On demand television has been getting bigger and better over recent years, with lots of different ways of getting TV on demand. Providers such as Amazon Prime, Now TV and the free catch up services like Iplayer, All Four and ITV Player.

With it being easier to find the programmes you want to watch when you want to watch them. television companies have had to evolve to meet the customer needs and to fight the competition.

The most well known on TV demand service probably is Netflix with them showing a vast range of different movies and programmes.

Netflix have also been paying attention to what their customers have been watching and making their own TV series based on what they believe their viewers want to see.

Orange is the New Black, Bojack Horseman and House of Cards are just some of the shining examples of what Netflix can do. And with them taking over Breaking Bad’s prequel Better call Saul there is no wonder why Netflix is the leading television provider.

Netflix has signed a deal with a little known company named Disney for exclusivity for the first run on their films from 2016. These include titles from Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Disneynature and Lucasfilm.

They have since made a new deal with Disney Marvel to develop four series ending in a cross over mini-series event. The four shows will be based in Hells Kitchen and the heroes that patrol there. They are characters that fans of Marvel Comics will know well but perhaps fans of the marvel film series will know less of. The first of these is Daredevil, probably the most recognisable of the four due to the 2003 film Ben Affleck playing the lead role.

Daredevil is also quite unique from other superheroes due to the fact Matt Murdock (Daredevils real name) is blind. However he has abilities to help him see in other ways and to fight crime.

The other three shows following Daredevil are Aka Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Culminating in a mini-series called The Defenders with all the above characters coming together and working as a team to make sure justice is served.

Obviously we know that Marvel is very good at making their stories interlink with amazing success. Their movie universe has already bridged that gap with their heroes becoming the Avengers.

It’s not known whether the Netflix series are in the same universe. It is pretty likely it is though due to the immense effort Marvel have made to make it all connected. This could mean we could expect to find some references to maybe the bigger characters such as Iron Man or the Hulk and hopefully a cameo or two.

The choice of characters also shows that they could be following the comic’s story line due to the fact the relationships the four superheroes have in 2d form.

Jessica Jones and Luke Cage fall in love have a baby and get married. Iron Fist (real name Danny Rand) and Luke Cage form a super hero team called Heroes for Hire. Matt Murdock is very good friends with Luke Cage and Jessica Jones with the later being his bodyguard when not he isn’t donning his Daredevil outfit.

I’m really excited by this project and knowing the quality of Disney, Marvel and Netflix I feel it’s going to be a real treat. David Tennant has been announced to be a villain in the Aka Jessica Jones series.

The other good thing about this is that we won’t be tied to watch one episode a week. In typical Netflix style every episode of the series will be released at once so you can decide to pace it out or binge watch over a weekend.

Not forgetting that due to it being on Netflix there will be no adverts breaking up the episodes just when you’re on the edge of your seat.

Daredevil is released Tomorrow, Friday 10th of April with the next few series following later in the year. You can check out the Daredevil trailer below and get excited about the new Marvel adventure.
