Fragrances are a highly personal choice, and finding the ones that sit perfectly on your skin can be a bit of a journey. This past year, I’ve been leaning into the Japanese concept of Yutori (the art of cultivating peace within chaos) and focusing on finding calm in nature and the energy around us.

As such, I’m finding myself drawn to delicate nature-led fragrances that bring joy to the senses and evoke feelings of calmness, clarity, and inner peace. But can a fragrance really conjure up those thoughts and feelings? We think so. Let’s take a deep dive into some of the best fragrances for nature-loving souls, along with expert tips and advice for getting the most out of your summer fragrance wardrobe.

Which scents are best for nature lovers?
When it comes to selecting the best summer scent notes, fragrance expert Alison MacColl tells LifeStyleLinked.: “Bergamot is fresh and uplifting in summer months and popular in eau de colognes, but always select Bergamot FCF if using essential oils. Otherwise, it has compounds that can react with UV rays. Uplifting citrus notes such as Lemon, Grapefruit, Lime, and Verbena are always popular in summer and can remind us of nature during holidays in warm sunny climates”
According to Alison, refreshing herbal notes from the Lamiaceae plant family help us connect with nature, the outdoors, and garden plants, including Lavender, Rosemary, and Basil. With Alison’s knowledge in mind, here are some of my favourite fragrance finds for summer 2026 that certainly seem to fit the bill.

Maison Margiela Replica Beachwalk
A stroll along the ocean. Feet sink into the sand. Waves brush the skin. The sun at its zenith radiates the beach. “Beach Walk” evokes the memory of a summer day. Fresh as the spray of the ocean, bergamot, lemon and pink pepper are instantly fused. Radiant and sensual ylang ylang follows, illuminating the addictive scents of coconut milk, musk and heliotrope. The scent is long-lasting, luxurious and totally unique.

With a silhouette inspired by classical apothecary jars, the bottle used for the three fragrances fits perfectly within the codes of Maison Martin Margiela. A cotton label, resembling the tags used on clothing and accessories for the ‘Replica’ capsule collection, identifies each fragrance. The same label concept is carried onto the packaging. A true summer fragrance that draws inspiration from the elements around us. Available here.

Byredo Gypsy Water
If there was ever a fragrance that perfectly sums up the magic and mystical side of nature, then this is it. I wear this almost every day during the summer months and in my holistic treatments due to its calming vibes. Gypsy water from Byredo is soothing, refreshing, and reminds me of a healing spa, surrounded by warm incense and delicate citrus notes.

Gypsy Water captures the spirit of freedom and bohemian lifestyle and awakens a dream of a colorful lifestyle made of innate nomadism. It opens with fresh citrus notes of Bergamot, Lemon, and Juniper Berries, balanced by a hint of Pepper, evoking the invigorating energy of outdoor exploration.
The heart reveals smoky Incense, soft Iris, and Pine Needle, conjuring memories of campfire nights beneath the stars. A warm base of Amber, Sandalwood, and Vanilla grounds the fragrance, embodying the free-spirited pursuit of adventure and the allure of the wild unknown. Available here.
Chloe Atelier des Fleurs Sous les Pins
Atelier des Fleurs The Mediterranean Essences is inspired by the French Mediterranean, infusing this heritage into the world of Chloé and fashion designs by founder of the fashion house, Gaby Aghion. Her pieces are steeped in these landscapes, exploring textures…shades of sand, earth and stone through sunlit, fluid and pleated silhouettes.
The Mediterranean Essences fragrance collection consists of four distinct scents created by Perfumers Quentin Bisch & Ane Ayo capturing the essence of the Mediterranean in a bottle.

Our favoruite is Atelier des Fleurs Sous les Pins by Quentin Bisch, which evokes the scent of a stroll beneath the Mediterranean pine trees. A tribute to Porquerolles, an island of the French Mediterranean landscape. This fragrance captures the essence of an island under sun-warmed pine trees, bark and needles infused with woody and eucalyptus notes. Available here.

Jo Malone London Blackberry & Bay
Childhood memories of blackberry picking. A burst of deep, tart blackberry juice, blending with the freshness of just-gathered bay and brambly woods. Vibrant and verdant. Releasing an instant burst of juiciness, natural blackcurrant fruit extract adds a fruity, slightly tart accent, while bucco tree essence suggests the lively, crunchy-green character of blackberry leaves.

At the heart of this scent are bay leaves, an accord based on the natural note of galbanum, bringing vegetal brightness and a wonderful green quality to the fragrance. The base note is Cedarwood. Its woody, dry character imbues the heart with charismatic intensity. Jo Malone London Blackberry & Bay is a wonderful summer scent that perfectly encapsulates the great British countryside, basking in glorious warm sunshine. Available here.

Visage ‘Nectaria’
For something a little sweeter, try Nectaria. This gorgeous scent boasts an indulgent warmth of golden honey entwined with rich tobacco. Layered over sensual notes of oud and sweet vanilla, this brand-new parfum strikes the perfect harmony of sweet, smoky, and spicy.
To me, it perfectly captures summer holiday vibes and warm beach walks on balmy summer days. A must-have for summer and onwards into autumn. Available here.

Achieve a unique scent combination by layering your fragrances this summer
The fragrances that I’ve recommended above are stand out summer sensations on their own, but they also work well when paired together in a technique called fragrance layering. What exactly is fragrance layering and how do you do it?
Simply put, it’s the art of selecting scents that perfectly compliment eachother, and layering them on your skin to create a unique scent for any occasion. Fragrance expert Alison MacColl tells LifeStyleLinked: “Scent layering is all about the ingredient notes. Layer lighter and uplifting perfumes with fresh green, zesty citrus, and herbal notes for a refreshing summer layered perfume.” So take your time to see which combinations work best for you.
Expert tips for making your fragrance last longer this summer
During the summer month’s fine fragrance longevity faces some challenges due to the additional heat and warm. Fragrance layering can help. Alison outlines her top tips for LifeStyleLinked below.
- Rub in fragrance-free SPF sun cream to your pulse points, neck, and nape of neck before applying your favourite summer fragrance
- Combine two different strengths of perfume that share similar notes, e.g., a more concentrated eau de parfum paired with an eau de toilette. Apply the strongest one first. Top up the lighter one if needed.
- Spread unscented lotion or after-sun over your skin before applying your perfume in the evening.
