The weather in the UK is currently dark, dismal and stormy. Naturally, my mind has been daydreaming about escaping on a short break somewhere. If you are looking for the best holidays in winter then take a look below at three places I’ve visited over the years and that I would love to go back to. Whilst these aren’t your traditional ‘winter sun’ destinations they are places that would be perfect to visit during the winter months. You could probably even bag a last minute deal too!

New York – one of the best holidays we’ve ever taken is to New York. I have been to NYC twice now and have even written a love letter to my favourite city! New York truly is the city that never sleeps and it is packed full of things to do no matter what time of the day or night.
You could go and watch a Yankees game in New York which is an experience you’ll never forget. We just so happened to attend on the evening that one of their main players was leaving and the atmosphere was electric!
Take the Staten Island ferry for a view of the Manhattan skyline or walk across Brooklyn Bridge and explore the area. No matter what time of year you decide to go, New York is a brilliant place to take a holiday!
Amsterdam – another of my favourite holiday destinations was Amsterdam. If you are looking for a city with a bright and vibrant atmosphere and amazing architecture then this has to be on your list of the best holidays in winter. A little rain or gloomy weather won’t dampen your view of Amsterdam and although it is definitely beautiful in spring or summer, you won’t be short of activities during the winter months.

If foodie hot-spots are your thing then Amsterdam won’t disappoint. We tracked down some of the most instagrammable places to eat in Amsterdam as we made our way around the city.
Paris – it has been a while since we visited Paris and although it can be perceived as a dangerous place to travel right now, I would still love to go back one day and explore all of the sights and attractions that we missed. We were invited on a press trip to the Moulin Rouge during our stay and it was one of the most magical nights. If we go back I’ll be sure to take some better images for you.
