Nintendo UK has teamed up with presenter and TV star Andrea McLean to help shake up her Christmas fitness regime. During the run up to the Christmas period Andrea has been trialling Wii Fit U, the latest game in the Wii Fit franchise, available exclusively for Wii U.
With a busy home life and filming schedule Andrea often finds it difficult to keep as active as she would like, therefore Nintendo challenged her to include Wii Fit U in her busy schedule to show how it makes exercising at home not only easier but also fun.
To see how Andrea got on with Wii Fit U, check out the videos below and take a look at our entertainment section for more.
Wii Fit U features 19 new training exercises and 77 different activities that use the Wii U GamePad, Wii Balance Board or both, and include returning exercises from both Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus. Wii Fit U also features the new Fit Meter which allows you to track your workouts while away from your Wii U.
Much more than a simple pedometer the Fit Meter not only tracks your daily activity but also the intensity of that activity and your altitude. If you have been hill running or simply decided to take the stairs rather than a lift the Fit Meter will be able to track your activity and transfer it wirelessly to Wii Fit U via the Wii U GamePad with just a touch of a button. The Fit Meter transforms your everyday life into workouts, encouraging you to get active and stay active.
Andrea McLean said:
“I’m a busy working mum with two gorgeous kids and exercise is often very low on my list of priorities. I’ve been a member of a gym before, but I went so infrequently it turned into a very expensive habit. I also get bored very easily. I need something that’s going to capture and keep my attention over the long term. I’m really excited to try out Wii Fit U as my early impressions have been great.”
Until January 31st 2014, Wii U owners can download a trial version of the game from Nintendo eShop* and get a head start on their New Year’s fitness goals by trying out all the activities found in the game for 31 days for free. All you need is a balance board and a Wii U console with a broadband Internet connection.
If you then want to continue using Wii Fit U beyond the 31-day trial period then the time restrictions can be unlocked by syncing a Fit Meter with the trial version. This will allow you to continue playing Wii Fit U for an unlimited time. The Fit Meter comes in a choice of colours including Black, Red and Green*.
The paid download version of Wii Fit U will also be available on Nintendo eShop from 1st February 2014 and the retail version of the game featuring a Fit Meter and Balance Board is available to buy now.
The Fit Meter, the packaged version of the game and Balance Board is available online at store.nintendo.co.uk. Prices will vary between retailers.
* The registration of Nintendo Network ID and acceptance of the Nintendo Network Agreement and Privacy Policy are required. Depending on the Wii U hardware pack you own and your use of it, an additional storage device may be required to download this game from Nintendo eShop.
