The team at Drayton Manor Theme Park, in Tamworth, Staffordshire, is counting down the minutes to the official launch of its their Drayton Manor 2016 season, this Saturday, 12th March. And there’s plenty to get excited about this year, as the park is set to welcome a host of new attractions and improvements. There will be monkey business aplenty as the much loved family attraction prepares to launch its brand new Tamarin Trail attraction over Easter.
Drayton Manor 2016 Opening Details
The brand new, walk-through attraction offers visitors the opportunity to come nose-to-nose with the cute and inquisitive moustached-marmosets.
The Tamarin Trail will take adventurers through beautiful planted gardens while admiring different species of Tamarin, such as the Red-Handed, White-Lipped, Emperor and Cotton Topped Tamarins as well as the Common Marmoset.
The park is also set to launch its new high ropes attraction Vertigo, this summer. So, watch this space for more information!
Some of the park’s existing favourites have also received a face lift, undergoing renovation work to improve the experience for guests. Spooky haunted house, The Haunting, has had remedial works carried out to enhance it, so that it can continue to thrill and terrify families throughout 2016!
The ride, which celebrates its 20th birthday this season, has undergone a refresh and uplift with a revised, more modern storyline. The old family favourite has housed the park’s ghosts and ghouls and been delighting the young and young at heart for two decades and, as such, the core layout and principle features have remained the same. However, the number of special effects has increased offering an improved ‘super-natural’ experience for visitors to see, feel and witness along their journey.
Guests can now investigate and report on their findings through a form of interactive scoring at the exit of the attraction, bringing a more immersive and interactive feel to the attraction.
Guests can enjoy further improvements in the Thomas Land™ shop in Thomas Land – which boasts the biggest selection of Thomas & Friends™ merchandise under one roof in the world – as it has undergone a huge refurbishment.
The whole shop has been gutted and re-fitted throughout in time for the 2016 main season. There is brand new lighting, new fixtures and fittings, new products and improved display areas.
Our popular photo booth has also had a facelift this season, where visitors can choose whether to have a photo with Winston or the little blue engine himself. Guests simply step into the green screen area, strike a pose and then their chosen character will be printed onto a personalised photo for them to take home and cherish.
There is a brand new DVD area where little ones can rest their legs and watch Thomas and his pals in action while parents take the opportunity to stock up on Thomas goodies. There will also be a colouring station and a Thomas Trackmaster Train display where children can crawl underneath and watch the trains going round.
On top of all this there is also a great range of new products on offer, including a Thomas plush toy and a brand new range of exclusive Thomas & Friends clothing, as well as all the old favourites. There is even a new boutique shop in the expansion of Thomas Land for anyone wanting to nip in rather than being kept inside by excited youngsters looking at all the trains and merchandise on offer.
Louise Pearson, Head of Retail at Drayton Manor Theme Park, said: “Following the Thomas Land expansion last year, it made sense for the shop to have a facelift too! The new and improved facility is brighter, more inviting and accessible and has a bigger and better range of products for our Thomas mad visitors. It’s a more inviting space for customers to spend time in, as well as just shopping.
“We’ve really optimised the space in the shop and re-worked all the displays to make it more spacious and accommodate our additional offerings for the 2016 season.
“We also still sell cold drinks and ice creams for guests to grab a quick refreshment on the go so that they don’t have to slow down on their jam packed day out! So there’s something for everyone.”
Drayton Manor 2016 season runs from Saturday 12th March until Friday 28th October, with the Firework Spectacular weekend taking place on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October. The award winning Magical Christmas event will be on selected dates from 19th November to 31st December.
