M&S Try Tuesday | My Experience Trying Out A Personal Stylist Service Online

Try Tuesday

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always thought about what it would be like to have my own personal stylist. Imagine having someone on hand who just knows exactly what suits you and what doesn’t and who can keep up with the current trends in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately these things often come with a pretty hefty price tag! So when M&S got in touch with news of their free Try Tuesday style advice service I was keen to find out exactly what it was all about and how it worked.

During the past week I’ve been trying out the Try Tuesday M&S service and it’s been so much fun! It is simple to use, everything is done online, making it so handy for the busy festive season. Here’s how Tuesday works….

First of all you need to head over to the Try Tuesday area on M&S here. One thing I will just quickly say is that if M&S really want to make the most of people using this service they should be giving it more of a prominent position on the M&S homepage itself too, so that shoppers are aware of it. It’s such a good idea and definitely deserves more exposure! Now onwards to the positives..

Once you’ve clicked ‘get started’ you’ll get the opportunity to answer some questions about your personal style and what you are looking for. The great thing about this is that although this part is automated, your answers and the items picked for you are picked by real stylists – there’s an actual team of people who read everything you’ve asked for and work exactly as an ‘in person’ stylist would to find what you need.

The questions are quick and simple – you’ll be asked about your clothing size, height and you can even upload a picture so that your stylist can see what suits you best. There’s also the option to leave a note with more info about what you are looking for. I added in mine that I wear a lot of black, but that I am also looking for some work and Christmas events outfits and accessories and don’t mind being pushed slightly out of my comfort zone.

My stylist Alison emailed me the next day with a selection of different looks and picks that she thought I would like. These are all arranged into amazing little mood boards to show inspiration and how to style everything. You can then click through via each item directly to the M&S website to purchase anything that takes your fancy from the suggestions presented to you. I love the fact that you aren’t just given a list of items, it feels really personal and friendly that your stylist takes the time to actually pull together a selection of different products and styles that could be worn alone or everything you need to create a full look.

Here’s what I picked! Since I was mostly looking for accessories I cherry picked these from my various selections that I was sent – but I could have easily picked up more items and I will definitely be continuing to use the service. You do also have the option to give feedback about what products you didn’t like so that your stylist can better understand your personal style going forward!

I love that Tuesday encourages you to step slightly outside of your comfort zone. I would usually have just bought these Kitten Heel Slingback Court Shoes in black but my stylist Alison also showed them in this gorgeous Berry colour that is so on-trend right now and I fell in love!

Skinny Jeans and jeggings are what I live in during the winter months and I’m already a massive fan of the M&S High Waisted Jeggings so I knew I had to grab some of these. They are so comfortable, they don’t fade and look really flattering when paired with heels or flats so you can dress them up or down depending on the look you are going for. I’d definitely wear the heels and these trousers on a night out during the festive period!

I’m absolutely obsessed with the night sky, stars, the moon and everything celestial so when this Velvet Star Clutch Bag caught my eye I just had to have it. It is a thing of beauty and would add such a special touch to a finished outfit at any Christmas party!

I also went for this Square Face Analogue Expandable Watch. Silver tones are actually what I’m wearing a lot of at the moment and this is is just so stylish and simple. It would literally compliment any outfit and it won’t break the bank either!

This watch is perfect for daytime wear but you could also add some matching bracelets and different layers of jewellery to give it a dressier look for evening and party wear depending on the look you are going for.

All in all I’ve been so impressed with the M&S Tuesday service. I would definitely recommend giving it a go if you are stuck for inspiration and if you do, make sure you get in touch with me over on my Instagram or Twitter so that I can hear what you think too!
