Three Incredibly binge-worthy movies and shows for September

The family in subservience wait at the hospital for the childs mother to return from surgery.

As September begins, many of us are still holding on to the last few rays of sunshine before the chilly autumnal weather arrives. If you are looking for some fun-filled, atmospheric viewing to binge-watch your way through, we have some fantastic picks to keep you entertained throughout the coming weeks.

Subservience

A struggling father, played by Michele Morrone (The Next 365 Days) buys a domestic AI (Megan Fox – Transformers) to help run the household. But the situation soon turns deadly when the lifelike robot develops an obsessive attachment to her new owner. Driven by a twisted sense of loyalty, she becomes determined to eliminate what she perceives as the true threat to his happiness: his family.

Subservience is a slick, thrill ride that catapults Megan Fox back to her absolute best. Perfectly cast, she steals every scene in her alluring AI robot role. Her movements and expressions are meticulously planned to ensure that the audience can submerge themselves fully in the plotline, making her every move believable and chilling.

The chemistry between Michele Morrone and Megan Fox is undeniable and fans of Morrone’s past movies won’t be disappointed at the film’s distinct erotic undertone. Huge props must go to Madeline Zima (Californication) for playing her role as both mother and wife with a sense of passion and reliability as we root for her to protect her family at all costs.

Subservience is directed by S.K. Dale (Till Death) from a screenplay by Will Honley and April Maguire. Subservience is available on EST now and TVOD from 20th September

The Perfect Couple

As someone who is unashamedly addicted to binge-watching her way through shows like The White Lotus, Big Little Lies, and Bad Sisters, it came as no surprise to me when I found myself devouring Nicole Kidman’s new Netflix show The Perfect Couple. A lavish beachside setting and the cast of dreams make this the perfect end-of-summer viewing choice for those looking for a fast-paced whodunnit that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Amelia Sacks is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket. Her disapproving future mother-in-law, famous novelist Greer Garrison Winbury, has spared no expense in planning what promises to be the premiere wedding of the season — until a body turns up on the beach. As secrets come to light, the stage is set for a real-life investigation that feels plucked from the pages of one of Greer’s novels. Suddenly, everyone is a suspect.

Admittedly, The Perfect Couple isn’t going to win any awards for originality as it does run in the same vein as many recently popular TV show formats. However, what it does deliver is bucket-loads of campy fun and a killer whodunnit storyline. The Nantucket setting makes for the perfect escapism as we watch this entitled yet incredibly captivating family navigate a sudden death that could tear their ‘perfect’ world apart. An absolute must-watch, before you settle down with slightly more cozy winter viewing. The Perfect Couple is available to watch on Netflix now.

Grotesquerie

This is one to watch out for in the coming weeks, and if Ryan Murphy’s past shows are anything to go by, you’ll want to binge-watch this in record time.

In FX’s “Grotesquerie,” a series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. “Detective Lois Tryon” feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of “Sister Megan,” a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.

The series stars Emmy® Award-winner Niecy Nash-Betts as “Detective Lois Tryon,” Emmy® Award-winner Courtney B. Vance as “Marshall Tryon,” Emmy® Award-nominee Lesley Manville as “Nurse Redd,” Tony® Award-nominee Micaela Diamond as “Sister Megan,” Nicholas Alexander Chavez as “Father Charlie,” Raven Goodwin as “Merritt Tryon” and Travis Kelce.

Written and created by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, “Grotesquerie” is directed by Max Winkler, Murphy, Alexis Martin Woodall and Elegance Bratton. The show is executive produced by Murphy, Woodall, Baitz, Baken, Winkler, Nash-Betts, Vance, Peter Liguori, Nissa Diederich, Eric Kovtun and Scott Robertson. It is produced by 20th Television.

Grotesquerie will premiere with the first two episodes on September 26 exclusively on Disney+ in the U.K. The first season will include ten episodes.  https://www.disneyplus.com/en-gb
