Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin

Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin is a triple-distilled spirit, handcrafted in a traditional copper pot still in small batches. Seven of the 11 botanicals used in the distillation come from India, where the use of botanicals is a time-honoured tradition. Jaisalmer’s recipe is derived from the ancient Indian knowledge of herbs.

Why not treat your Dad to a Jaisalmer Negroni on Father’s Day (21 June 2020) or during Negroni Week (14-20th September 2020) simply use 25ml Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin, 25 ml Sweet Vermouth, 25ml Campari. Stir all the ingredients over ice in a rocks glass for around 20 seconds, until chilled. Top with ice and garnish with an orange peel twist. Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin RRP: £34.95 for 70cl. ABV: 43% Available fromMaster of Malt and The Whisky Exchange

Those looking to expand their at-home drinking options need look no further than Tesco, as the supermarket has just added over 40 new beers and ciders to its shelves in time for summer drinking and for father’s day. Tesco, which was last month crowned the UK’s Best Independent Craft Beer Retailer (Multiple) by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA), introduced the beers and ciders in select stores and online last week. The new products include craft beer exclusives, twists on traditional styles and existing favourites in new formats. Highlights include our two favourites below.

Northern Monk Tropical World Tropical Smoothie IPA, £3 (440ml, 6.2% vol.) – This tropical smoothie-inspired IPA from Leeds brewery Northern Monk is bursting with fruit notes. Ripe mango, pineapple and passionfruit are clear and prominent in both aroma and flavour. As the name suggests, it has a smooth, almost creamy texture, achieved through the use of lactose in the brew.

Evil Twin More or Less Evil Hazy Pale Ale, £1.80 / £6 (330ml / 4 x 330ml, 5% vol.) – Available as part of the Any 3 for £5 deal (until 31 August) and as a 4-pack within the 2 for £9 deal (until 10 August) Evil Twin founder Jeppe, is a ‘gypsy brewer’, which means he produces his beer range at different breweries around the world, rather than at one single site. With ten years’ globe-trotting under his belt, he’s a well-known figure in the craft beer world and this hazy, hoppy pale ale is testament to the skills he’s picked up along the way. It is bright, crisp and refreshing, yet bold and full bodied.

Adopt a vine in a French vineyard this Father’s Day

Raise a glass to the man who raised you: with Cuvée Privée, adopt a vine in a prestigious French vineyard and gift your father his own vintage. With Cuvée Privée, your dad will follow the progress of his own vines in a French vineyard and will end up receiving his own personalised bottles of wine to his front door: a gift he can be proud of.

On Father’s Day this year, your dad will receive a welcome pack and a bottle from the domain of your choosing, beginning his vine adoption journey. From harvesting to bottling, he will follow the story of his vines, with regular updates from the wine producer. He is also invited to organise a French getaway – to meet the winemaker and see in person the vines that bear his name.

And here’s the kicker: at the end of the subscription year (Father’s Day 2021: yes, we’ve got you covered for two years at least!), the adopter receives 6 bottles personalised with their name – their own vintage wine. It’s a gift that’ll say “thank you for all you’ve done for me” year after year. After all, if he managed to raise you, adopting these vines will be a breeze…

How does it work? Customers pick six vines from a vineyard they want to adopt from exceptional wine producers. Each vineyard in Cuvée Privée’s portfolio has been handpicked by their prestigious Parisian sommelier, Bernard Neveu (from the Bristol Palace).

Customers receive a welcome box containing one bottle of the current vintage of the chosen vineyard, a certificate of adoption and information about the winemaker. Their name will be marked on their adopted vines. At the end of the year, vine adopters get six bottles of the next vintage produced by the adopted vineyard, labelled with their names.

Throughout the year, vine adopters follow their vines through monthly newsletters and are invited to visit the vineyard and meet the winemaker. They also receive special invitations to the events at the Cuvée Privée Wine Club. For those who prefer to leave the choice of the vineyard to the future adopter, Cuvée Privée also offers gift cards.
