Swaledale is based in Skipton, and proud of it; they’ve become synonymous with whole-carcass, nose-to-tail butchery in Yorkshire, and for supplying the finest produce farmed on The Dales. Swaledale has built relationships with a collective of like-minded farmers, the real heroes of The Dales, without whom the preservation of native breeds would not be possible.
They have also fostered connections with some of the most discerning chefs across the UK, who’ve become great friends and often visit them and their farming partners in Yorkshire.
Swaledale Family Meat Box
The Swaledale Family Meat Box (£91.20) is packed with options for busy family life, from a quick Merguez flatbread, or perhaps a classic Tuscan-style fennel sausage ragù with penne pasta, crowd-pleasing prime steaks and a weekend roast chicken, not to mention proper dry-cured bacon and sausages. Without exception, all produce is dry-aged, dry-cured, smoked and prepared in house by their expert team of artisan butchers.

The Swaledale family meat box is perfect for families who enjoy hearty meals and for anyone who enjoys batch cooking. With such a varied selection of meats supplied within the box, there’s room to get creative with your meals.
Steak is where Swaledale really excels, and their delicious rump steaks are a true star of the show in this meat box. All they need is a sprinkle of sea salt flakes and the flavour is astounding.
The roast chicken arrived fresh and was tender and succulent once cooked. Again, you don’t need to overseason any of the meats in this box, the flavour profile is amazing and speaks for itself. We found that the chicken and sausages paired well with seasonal veg, stuffing and new potatoes with garlic butter as the perfect roast dinner on a cold day.
The minced beef is perfect for making a cottage pie or a bolognese. We felt that the pack of mince provided could have been a little bit bigger in order to allow for a family meal, but there were no complaints about the flavor and texture of this delicious meat from us!
