This Christmas we are all beginning to embrace the festive season earlier than ever. Perhaps due to the doom and gloom of COVID times, everyone is looking for a little holiday cheer? With that in mind, I’ve got my three Christmas home decor trend predictions for those who want to start buying their festive decor in advance.
Make sure you keep an eye on our home decor column for lots more seasonal home decor features in the coming weeks as I have lots to show you!
A very monochrome Christmas
We’ve been covering monochrome home decor a lot recently and this is a trend that is set to stay. There’s something modern and stylish about a black and white theme. Christmas gifts tied with simple black and white striped ribbons, black and white baubles on a tree with gold or silver accents to warm the tone. The possibilities are endless and I’m excited to play around with some monochrome Christmas home decor in our home this December.
Celestial wishes and the magic of the elements
One trend I always incorporate into our Christmas home decor (and throughout the entire year) is celestial elements. There is something so magical and captivating to me about the night sky and I always have a strong desire to bring this into my home decor. Christmas is the perfect time to do this. My theme this year will definitely feature delicate star and moon baubles hanging from the tree. I hope to have some celestial themed candles and home furnishings with a Scandinavian twist too. Stay tuned as I’m hoping to bring you a full series on how we style our Victorian terrace house this Christmas along with some decor tips for styling the Christmas table.
The return of the traditional
As we all start to get ready to cosy up and embrace the cold nights and frosty mornings some of us are looking back to our own childhood with fond memories. After spending so much family time at home together and making new traditions, I think many of us are feeling a certain pang of nostalgia. Could we see a rise in more traditional festive decor? Real pine cones and branches set beautifully along the mantelpiece will bring that festive scent to the home and won’t break the bank. You can see how we styled some here.
Although I don’t see them as the epitome of style and chic, there’s no denying that multicoloured lights and brightly coloured tinsel also always bring up fond memories and may be embraced more this year. My daughter always lights up her room with bright coloured fairy lights and we do tend to have one tree somewhere in the house for retro baubles and bright coloured decoration!
