The Ultimate Cold & Flu Survival Kit

Flu Survival Kit

You might have noticed that the magazine has been a little low on content over the past couple of weeks. This is largely due to the fact that my body decided to throw a complete hissy fit and succumb to every single germ and bug that was going! Some of you already know that I suffer with autoimmune diseases (Fibromyalgia and Sjogrens Syndrome to name a couple) and so when I’m in a flare up, it can be hard not to pick up all of the germs that are floating around. My daughter was home from school with a bad dose of the flu and a few days later I came down with it too.

Here are just a few of the things that helped me through the last few weeks. I hope this cold and flu survival kit helps any of you who are also fighting off germs and bugs at this time of year.

First of all, I was sent a box of Blistex goodies from their PR team just in time for this flare up. It’s like they knew I was about to get sick! This little box of goodies contained the new Happy Lips products. Available in fruity flavours like Mouth Watering Mango and Simply Sensational Strawberry, these really helped keep my lips hydrated. They also taste and smell amazing! I was so impressed with the Blistex products that I later went out and bought the Blistex Relief Cream when things got really bad. This was perfect for nighttime use to stop my lips from drying out as I snuffled and sniffed my way through a night of disturbed sleep. Thanks for being there for me, Blistex!

Body Shop Drops of Youthheart

My skin wasn’t looking its best at all, so I was was looking for something hydrating and light to use in the evenings. I’ve been absolutely loving the Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask from The Body Shop. This product is absolutely amazing! I’m a big fan of The Body Shop skincare and make-up in general but this was an extra special surprise in terms of just how well it performed. The formula is bouncy and almost gelatine like when in the pot, but when you smooth it onto your skin and gently massage it in, it becomes so lightweight and dreamy that has now become my top skincare product for evening use. I loved the fact that it isn’t greasy or heavy. Once you’ve massaged it in, you don’t need to do anything else to it. It just sinks into the skin beautifully. This is definitely my new favourite product from The Body Shop!

Netflix

Netflix has been my savoir for all things entertainment. I’ve loved curling up with the laptop and just catching up on all of my favourite shows. Pretty Little Liars has been my latest discovery. I know, I’m way behind the times on this one! It’s so addictive though! I’ve also watched loads of movies and documentaries. There has to be a plus point to being ill, and Netflix was definitely my guilty pleasure! www.netflix.com

Good tissues are a must, when you have the flu. With my autoimmune issues, my skin can get really sensitive. I love the fact that Kleenex now have a sensitive range. My husband picked me up a box of these and they are so incredibly soft on your skin! Perfect for when you’re feeling really low and want to avoid any further flare up or irritation!

Last but not least, I’ve been dosing myself up on healthy food and drinks. I’ve become absolutely obsessed with Copella fruit juices. Their orange juice is honestly the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s also reasonably priced and doesn’t contain any nasty additives. I’ve been drinking this for a few weeks now with my breakfast and lunch and I’ll definitely continue to purchase it as part of our regular weekly shop. Go and tweet them and tell them how awesome they are! @copellajuices
