Sleep Sustainably on World Environment Day

Just in time for World Environment Day 2018 (June 5th) – the UK’s first duvet made of 100% recycled materials has gone on sale with Debenhams today and also online here.

The Fine Bedding Company’s new ‘ECO Duvet’ cleverly turns plastic bottles, that would otherwise end up as landfill or floating in the world’s seas, into silky soft, light and fluffy micro fine fibres that are used for the luxury filling.

Added to this is a 100% recycled microfibre cover, all packaged in a recycled box / bag (even the box’s printed ink is water based). The ECO Duvet is washable (in a domestic machine) and quick to dry; hypoallergenic, highly breathable with layered fibres providing weightless warmth. Prices start at just £45 for a single 10.5 tog duvet.

It is being exclusively stocked in Debenhams stores, its first physical retail presence on the UK high street, or buy online at www.finebedding.co.uk

The new duvet fits perfectly with this year’s World Environment Day (WED) focus – ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. Each 10.5 tog double duvet is filled with luxurious silky soft micro fine fibres made from 120 PET bottles.

In addition to being produced from recycled materials, the production process to make the new ECO Duvet has a lower carbon footprint, up to 44% less than the polyester industry standard duvet. It is produced in The Fine Bedding Company’s Eco Factory using 100% renewable energy sources.

Claire Watkin from The Fine Bedding Company says:

“ECO Duvet is a major step forward for the filled bedding industry – in fact we believe this is the first truly 100% recycled duvet, and a pillow is soon to follow. Consumers can now genuinely opt for an environmentally-friendly product that feels and performs as well as any less sustainable products on the market.”

Richard Jones, Trading Director for Global Sourcing at Debenhams, said:

“We are delighted to be the first UK high street retailer to stock the new 100% recycled ECO Duvet which offers customers a quality product and addresses the issue of recycling plastic for future use.”
