Orin Swift Blank Stare Sauvignon Blanc 2016, California

Barrel fermented in 55% new French oak, this is Sauvignon Blanc but not as you know it. Glowing in the glass, the aromatics concentrate with notes of lemongrass, fresh cut grass and hints of lavender, cream and jasmine. On the palate, the entry is all acidity but with a serious mid-palate—lively flavours of kiwi, lime and intriguing minerality. The finish is bright and youthful with a slight Meyer lemon rind closing out the wine.

Edna Valley Pinot Noir 2017, Central Coast

Grown in vineyards situated just five miles from the Pacific Ocean, the grapes of Edna Valley are afforded rich soils, gentle sunshine and cool ocean fog throughout the long growing season; these elements combine to coax the best possible flavour and creating a longer ripening season, perfect for Pinot Noir. The result is a wine that expresses sumptuous notes of red cherry and rose petals, harmonising with complex earthiness, concluding with an elegant and lengthy finish.

The nose presents immediate aromas of boysenberry, currants, graphite, cedar, fir ash and vanilla. Seamless on the entry with resounding energy, the mid-palate features lush blackberry and black cherry as well as a hint of sweet red liquorice. Talbott Vineyards Kali Hart Pinot Noir 2017, Monterey

This wine is elegantly expressive of the cool climate where the Pinot Noir grapes were grown, in the Talbott estate vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Approachable and bright, this complex Pinot Noir opens with aromas of Bing cherry, cola, boysenberry and hints of vanilla. On the palate, intense notes of rich red and black berries are supported by hints of oak and are accentuated by soft, silky tannins.

Bear Flag Zinfandel 2017, Sonoma County

The majority of the grapes sourced are from the Dry Creek Valley, one of the most renowned Zinfandel growing areas in California. Dry Creek’s daytime heat and cool, calm nights enable Zinfandel to develop bold fruit characteristics along with hints of spice and savoury complexity. On the palate, dense, dark fruit characteristics are reminiscent of blueberry pie. Notes of toasted oak and vanilla seamlessly meld with a plush, lingering mouthfeel.
