Drayton Manor Magical Christmas

Drayton Manor Magical Christmas

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… was the tune that began playing in my mind as I walked into Drayton Manor’s Magical Christmas. I was instantly transported from a normal November’s day into a winter wonderland! Christmas trees surrounded every corner and snow showers dusted the ground as we began to adventure around the park!

Jack, my 4 year old son was in awe at the first place we came across; Knapford Station with Thomas and his glorious transformation into Rudolf with his ruby red nose and antlers. Snow surrounding the station and the most dazzling lights shone throughout the tunnel. It was definitely beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! The park has been decorated with snow machines which go off 3 times during the day which keep the festive cheer going. Children squeal in delight as snow begins to fall from above. Festive music also plays throughout the park and I must admit I caught myself having a sing along at various times through the event! The 30ft Christmas tree was also adding to the festivities with its musical light show and numerous children gathering around in awe of the sheer size of it.

Our ride on Thomas took us to Drayton Manor Zoo, a 15 acre zoo filled with flamingos to kangaroos and everything in between. You also couldn’t have a Christmas Zoo without Reindeers! The three reindeers called Buzz, Comet and Star finish the Castle Of Dreams experience in which you meet Father Christmas, have your photo taken and receive a special goody bag containing a Golden Ticket which gives 1 child free entry in the 2017 season, a naughty elf to look after and a selection of chocolates too! Walking into Santa’s castle was delightful. You are immediately greeted by his lovely elves who spend time talking to the children about their Christmas lists and what they would like to ask Father Christmas for and when your slot is ready they then lead you into his room.

With the snowy backdrop and the red velvet chair Jack was instantly enthralled by this new person who sat before him! Santa sprinkled magic dust into Jack’s hand and as he waved it the camera flashed and caught the glisten in his eye.

The Thomas & Friends Exhibition is a must visit for any true Thomas the Tank Engine fan! It features a model of Thomas which follows you around the exhibit as he passes villages, bridges, people and ships! It’s a fabulous way for the older generations to reminisce to the younger fans how Thomas has changed since they were children.

Slide and Glide is an indoor ice rink in the park which is included in the entry price if you really want to get in the festive spirit and also a great way to warm up! There is also a magical outdoor parade in Thomas land with characters and songs and the day ends with a beautiful firework display over the lake. What a way to end a spectacular day!

If you have older children with you, don’t forget to slither down to the reptile house! It homes reptiles of all shapes and sizes, from mini turtles to gigantic anacondas there’s something for you all to admire!
