Donna Air is urging Brits to don their finest festive socks on Tuesday 6th December to mark the first ever official Christmas Sock Day. Founded by labels-for-less retailer, TK Maxx, the new Christmas charity initiative has been established to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens.
The seasonal staple gift is now taking its moment of glory as Brits are invited to celebrate the humble necessity for a great cause. This year, shoppers can pull up their festive socks to raise funds and help beat children’s cancers sooner.
TK Maxx and Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens are encouraging friends, families and school children nationwide to show off their favourite Christmas socks – whether sequined, knitted or fun patterns – and share a snap of their support with a Christmas #socksie. For every #socksie uploaded on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, TK Maxx will donate £1 to Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens. (Full terms and conditions apply)
Shoppers can purchase an official pair of charity Christmas socks from TK Maxx stores nationwide, with prices starting at just £2.99 for kids’ designs and £4.99 for adults. This exclusive collection is available in stores now, with at least £0.99 from the sale of every pack donated to Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens.
Donna Air has pulled up her official socks in support of the cause, commenting:
“I am pleased to be supporting TK Maxx on its first ever Christmas Sock Day. The campaign aims to raise donations to fund research into children’s cancers, this is a matter close to my heart and I have been on a committee for Cancer Research UK for four years. It is a fantastic initiative and I urge everyone to get involved by buying a pair of charity Christmas socks and sharing their #socksie on social media.”
Deborah Dolce, Group Brand and Marketing Director at TK Maxx, comments:
“We’d love everyone to be talking about Christmas socks this year to help raise money for this fantastic cause. We believe the classic gifting staple – Christmas socks – deserves to have this moment of glory. We’re going to raise important funds for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens by asking everyone to have some fun and put on their boldest, brightest pair to create a Christmassy #socksie or to buy a pair of charity Christmas socks in our store. Or of course, do both if they’re feeling generous!”
Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens’ aim is to raise money for research specifically into cancers affecting children, teens and young adults. Through raising money and awareness, the charity hopes to better understand these cancers and find kinder treatments and cures.
Get involved by sharing your own #socksie on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
For every #socksie shared TK Maxx will donate £1.00 to charity. The socks are on sale instore and online and cost £4.99 with £2.00 of the proceedings going to Cancer Research Kids & Teens.
