With the weather getting colder now and the evenings beginning to feel cosy, we’ve been really appreciating finding meals and drinks that you can curl up with and enjoy when the work day is done. This week the lovely folks over at Gallo Family Vineyards sent some samples of their revamped wines for us to try. It just so happened that they arrived on our wedding anniversary so we were definitely in the mood to raise a glass in celebration!
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I post regular updates of what I’m reviewing, buying, eating, drinking and…. yeah – I post a lot! If you spotted over there that my husband treated me to some delicious chocolates for our wedding anniversary, you’ll understand why I got a little bit excited about a wine delivery arriving on the same day. Gallo Family Vineyards could’t have timed it better if they tried! I love pairing red wine and rose wines with sweet treats but am always on the lookout for a good quality chardonnay or champagne too.
I loved trying the new Gallo Family Vineyards offerings, you can find out some info on the three I was sent below….
Gallo Family Vineyards Merlot – smooth and aromatic red wine, and, with flavours of black fruits and raspberry, is a wonderful accompaniment to any Christmas cheeseboard, and even to chocolate desserts like brownies or yule logs.
Gallo Family Vineyards Pinot Grigio – Crisp and fruity; it’s melon and citrus notes making it a brilliant match with salmon or boxing-day pasta dishes.
Gallo Family Vineyards White Grenache – White Grenache, a luscious fruity wine with flavours of strawberry and citrus, works well with grilled seafood and colourful salads.
My absolute favourite and the one I chose to open on our wedding anniversary was the Gallo Family Vineyards Merlot. This is warming, filled with deep and fruity tones and perfect for a cold winter’s evening! If you are looking for a wine that is affordable, easy to find and perfect to keep on hand for last minute Christmas drinks then this is a wonderful pick.
