As regular followers may already know, we have been renovating our Victorian terrace here in Somerset for the past year or so now. Things are progressing well but I do have a list of the absolute dream home improvements that I would love to make next. 5 Dream Home Improvements I Would Love To Make Next

We have already made some amazing changes to our Victorian terrace, including a dark and dramatic hallway makeover with Farrow & Ball ‘Railings’ last year. If money was no object (sadly it is, but a girl can dream!) then here are some of my dream home improvements for the immediate future.

home improvements

Kitchen knock-through – I would love to knock through our kitchen into the breakfast room next door. The wall is a supporting wall so this would be quite a big project to undertake but the end result would be amazing. We are currently saving to do this as we would want to put a new kitchen in at the same time. There would also ideally be skylights and double doors or bi-fold doors out to the patio garden. This would create the ideal space to put a small decked area and a little bistro set. The perfect place for breakfast or a morning coffee!

New flooring – As much as I love the cream carpets in our home, I have always dreamed of having hardwood parquet flooring running throughout the downstairs. I love the idea of creating a stylish flow to the house using flooring that just naturally brings everything together. Colour wise I would have modern, ashy toned wood floors that would work well with my love of monochrome and muted tones. If we were going for a more modern angle altogether I would have a stunning glass floor installed. A real talking point!

Bathroom renovation – we are lucky enough to have quite a spacious bathroom so I cant wait to start renovating this. It is currently lacking in any real character or statement design and I feel as though we could really use this space to create something dramatic and fun. I would love to create the perfect mix of stylish and modern with a timeless look. I already have my eye on some bold colours and exciting design pieces.

Garden makeover – Our garden isn’t huge but it has lots of potential for development. As mentioned above, I would love a decked area and bistro table towards the house. Down the other end there is scope for a large outdoor dining table. I have seen some beautiful teak sets and would love to style these with cream cushions and matching sun umbrella. I would also love to create a small space for a kitchen garden where I could grow a few herbs, tomatoes and salad. I’m not too green fingered so this area doesn’t need to be huge!

Home gym – lastly if money was no object then we would create space somewhere for a home gym. With the current COVID-19 changes and the uncertainty of future use of public areas I would love the freedom of having a fully kitted out gym with everything I need to work-out from home. If money was no object I would obviously have an absolute ball designing and planning this!
